At Seend C.E. Aided Primary school we hope to develop the children as Learners in their own right. We encourage them to approach problems in a creative way and use a variety of strategies to meet a challenge and solve a problem.

In order to develop the children as creative learners our school is involved with the Building Learning Power approach from Reception to Year 6.
The aim of the work is to get the children to think about their learning and develop strategies for becoming efficient learners.

Building Learning Power develops four areas or dispositions in order to increase the children’s learning power. The are known as the Four R`s of Learning. (Copyright TLO)

During the year we have different themes to work on within the Learning – Power Dispositions. We could be looking at reasoning, managing distractions, planning questioning or revising.

The children in KS2 keep Learning Logs in which they question their learning and record methods they have used both successful methods and those that have not been so successful. During their time at our school they are actively encouraged to discuss and develop their learning.
